Role Summary
The Senior Bilingual Accountant will be responsible for establishing and maintaining the full accounting and financial management framework of the company. As the founding accounting lead, this role requires a hands-on professional capable of setting up accounting systems, designing internal procedures, and ensuring full financial compliance from day one. The incumbent will also serve as the key financial liaison with stakeholders including international suppliers, banks, and external auditors.
Key Responsabilities
General Accounting
- Maintain the general ledger
- Record, classify, and reconcile all accounting entries (purchases, sales, treasury, journal entries).
- Manage accounts payable and receivable; handle follow-ups and dispute resolution.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and monitor daily cash flows.
- Prepare and close monthly, quarterly, and annual accounts.
- Produce financial statements: balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement.
Cost & Management Accounting
- Track product cost prices and analyze budget variances.
- Contribute to the preparation of the annual budget and financial forecasts.
- Design and maintain financial dashboards and KPI reports for senior management.
Tax & Legal Compliance
- Prepare and file all tax declarations: VAT, corporate income tax, payroll taxes, etc.
- Monitor changes in tax and labor regulations and ensure ongoing compliance.
- Liaise with tax authorities, social security bodies, and external auditors.
CANDIDATE PROFIL
Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management (BAC+4/+5 or equivalent).
- Professional certification is a strong asset: DSCG, ACCA, CPA, CMA, or equivalent.
- Chartered Accountant (trainee or qualified) profile is highly valued.
Professional Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in general accounting, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role.
- Experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or start-up environment is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with the paint, chemical, or manufacturing sector is a significant advantage.
Technical Skills
- Solid knowledge of local accounting standards (SYSCOHADA, IFRS, or applicable GAAP).
- Strong understanding of industrial corporate taxation.
- Proficiency in accounting software: Sage, QuickBooks, SAP, or similar ERP.
- Advanced Excel skills: pivot tables, financial models, and data analysis.
