Porteo Group, Official National Supporter of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d'Ivoire

Porteo Group – also known as Porteo BTP – made a mark by becoming the Official National Supporter of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire. This high-level partnership, formalized with the Confederation of African Football (CAF), placed this Ivorian construction company at the heart of the continent’s biggest sporting event. Held from January 13 to February 11, 2024, in Côte d’Ivoire, the AFCON 2023 benefited from the support of Porteo Group, which skillfully showcased its corporate values while contributing to the success of this historic tournament.

In a resolutely corporate and unifying tone, let’s revisit the stakes and outcomes of this win-win partnership between Porteo and the CAF, reflecting the company’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure development in West Africa.

A Strategic Partnership Between Porteo and CAF

In October 2023, Porteo Group entered into an agreement with CAF to become the Official National Supporter of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire. By sponsoring the competition, the group joined prestigious partners such as TotalEnergies, Puma, Orange, Visa, and more, while standing out as the only local construction company among the official national supporters.

“We are proud to partner with CAF as the Official National Supporter of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations,” said Hippolyte Assouan, Secretary-General of Porteo Group, highlighting the honor and enthusiasm of the company in supporting this continental event.

Through this partnership, Porteo Group aims to strengthen its positioning and leave a lasting impact on the success of AFCON 2023, in line with its corporate vision.

Porteo Group (Porteo BTP) is an Ivorian construction company that mobilizes a significant fleet of machinery and vehicles for its construction sites. As the Official National Supporter of AFCON 2023, Porteo leveraged its expertise and brand image to support the continental tournament. This alignment with CAF fits perfectly with Porteo’s vision of “building the Africa of tomorrow” by contributing to the continent’s economic and social development. For Porteo, supporting AFCON 2023 goes beyond sports sponsorship: it’s a natural extension of the company’s mission. The partnership serves to “reinforce the positioning and long-term commitment of the group to the development of states and inter-community relationships.”

Values Aligned with Sustainable Infrastructure Development

As a leader in the construction sector in Côte d’Ivoire, Porteo Group embodies strong values that resonate strongly within the framework of AFCON 2023. Its founder and CEO, Hassan Dakhlallah, has long emphasized that every infrastructure project must have a positive impact on the population: “Every road, every bridge, every building must open up economic opportunities,” he often highlights. This vision focuses on sustainable development and community well-being. The company integrates social and environmental dimensions into each of its projects, understanding that building roads or stadiums must go hand-in-hand with improving living conditions and environmental protection.

Social and Economic Impact of the Partnership

Beyond media visibility, the partnership with AFCON has significant social and economic implications for Porteo Group. By supporting “the king of sports, football,” Porteo continues its social vision and societal impact, contributing to the sustainability of relationships between communities, as Hippolyte Assouan reminded.

In concrete terms, Porteo’s presence among the official sponsors helped finance the tournament’s organization, creating temporary jobs, involving local service providers, and showcasing Ivorian expertise. The company actively participated in celebrating African football, particularly through communication campaigns highlighting the unity and public enthusiasm generated by the competition.

AFCON 2023 in Côte d'Ivoire: A Major Continental Event

AFCON 2023 (the 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations) gathered 24 African national teams for 52 thrilling matches. Five host cities across Côte d’Ivoire hosted the competition: Abidjan, Bouaké, Korhogo, San-Pédro, and Yamoussoukro.

Thanks to massive investments in infrastructure, six state-of-the-art stadiums were made available, including the jewel of the economic capital, the Olympic Stadium Alassane Ouattara in Ebimpé (Abidjan’s suburbs). It was in this 60,000-seat arena that the opening match and grand finale of AFCON 2023 took place, respectively on January 13 and February 11, 2024.

The support of partners like Porteo Group was pivotal in achieving this level of excellence. Porteo Group, with its expertise in public works, provided advice and logistical support when needed, all while leveraging the opportunity to enhance its brand image with the broader African public. The competition concluded in a grand celebration with the victory of the Ivorian national team, the Elephants, who won the continental trophy, bringing joy to an entire nation.

Hassan Dakhlallah: A Strategic Vision for the Future of Porteo Group

At the helm of Porteo Group is Hassan Dakhlallah, a visionary Ivorian-Lebanese entrepreneur who founded the company in 2011.

In just over a decade, he has transformed a local SME (formerly known as NSE-CI) into a pan-African construction conglomerate. Under his leadership, Porteo BTP has become a key player in major West African projects, now operating in Côte d’Ivoire, Benin, Togo, and Senegal.

The group employs over 10,000 people from 23 different nationalities and boasts an impressive fleet of more than 3,000 machines and trucks to carry out its projects. This rapid growth is attributed to Hassan Dakhlallah’s strategic vision: mastering the entire value chain of construction, investing in local human resources, and diversifying activities to seize development opportunities.

Hassan Dakhlallah’s strategy focuses on five complementary business sectors within Porteo Group:

  1. Urban Development – urban planning and land development.

  2. Services – services related to infrastructure projects.

  3. Construction – building works, civil engineering projects, and large infrastructure.

  4. Industry – industrial production linked to construction and material manufacturing.

  5. Roads – road construction and rehabilitation, highways, and road networks to open up regions.

By structuring the group around these sectors, the CEO aims to provide an integrated offering from technical studies to execution and maintenance, ensuring optimal quality and controlled timelines. This vertical integration also allows the group to optimize costs and innovate more easily—two competitive advantages in a highly competitive sector.

Hassan Dakhlallah sees beyond construction: he aims to “embed his action in a dynamic of sustainable transformation” for Africa.
